A School in Central Travancore which provides a blend of Indian and International systems of education at an affordable fee was the dream of Mr.Jose Thomas (The Secretary , St.Thomas College of Engineering and Technology Kozhuvallor, Chegannoor and Chairman ,St Thomas Engineering and Technology ,Sivapuram Kannur).The journey towards this lucid dream led to the inception of Travancore International School, Adoor.
The strategic location of TRIS away from traffic and crowd ensures a peaceful teaching –learning environment. Everyone visiting the school will think of learning with a higher level of importance because of the ambience provided for the same.
Travancore International school owned and managed by the Travancore Educational and Charitable trust, Adoor started its venture in June 2008 under the guidance of T G Nelson in a rented building at Vidya Nagar Junction , Adoor. In 2011, the school was relocated to the present campus at Mithrapuram which was inaugurated by His Highness Princess Pooyam Thirunal Gouri Prvathi Bai of royal Family. From the humble beginning made by Mr.Jose Thomas ,Chairman of TECT and Shams Embrayil, Managing Trustee TECT , having crossed many milestones, today the school is a dream destination for students, teachers and parents alike. Now in the tenth academic year ,the school is proud to stand one among the successful schools in the country.

2017-’18.
The vision, mission and the wisdom of the management of the Travancore Educational and Charitable trust has brought up this institution a prominent position among the schools in the region. Mrs. Rosamma Chacko the Academic Director and the teachers took up their roles in the right path for the success of the school. As the insignia depicts, efforts are being made in TRIS to infuse the philosophy of Satyam, Shivam, Sundaram as in Vedic India along with modern education.
School PTA play an important role in building effective cooperation and partnership between home and school. Class PTA ensures one to one interaction among parents and teachers of each class. Members of the PTA continue to extend their valuable support to the school by giving feedback and suggestions on every academic activity. Open houses are scheduled periodically to discuss about the performance of the students.
TRIS is proud to project a set of highly qualified committed teachers proficient to teach the modern curriculum. The teachers have attended various staff empowerment programmes held in the school and at different locations organized by CBSE, Centre of Excellence, Sahodaya Cluster and Book Publishers to update their knowledge on the subject, teaching methodology, educational psychology and CBSE’s needs. Leaders are not born but made and it is not an overnight process either. Acknowledging its importance, the school has created opportunities for students to develop leadership qualities. School captains, prefects, monitors and house captains are in fact models of future leaders. Scholastic Activities
Children love to learn without forced. Teaching – learning is made joyful in TRIS with innovative strategies and modern techniques :- Computer assisted lessons, preparation of seminars and projects, mathematics lessons in Maths Lab, language learning and knowledge acquisition with the help of library facilities, science lab, Digi Board and activity oriented teaching.
The school follows remolded evaluation pattern of CBSE , New Delhi. Every year the students are encouraged to score better by awarding prizes and certificates for their academic excellence. The academic year 2016- ’17 was a remarkable year for us. Our 2 nd batch batch of class X brought laurels to the school. They made the TRIS family proud by achieving 100 % result.
The students of TRIS participated in various exams like PCM, ASIA, Scholastic achievement by CBSE Principal’s Confederation etc and many of them are awarded with cash prizes and certificates. Many of our students participated in painting competitions conducted by Mathrubhoomi, DTPC etc and quiz competitions conducted by external agencies
School priorities various scholastic programmes which directly nurtures the quality of learning.
Reading programme was a new venture that was introduced last year to enhance the reading skills of TRISIANS. We succeeded in obtaining an excellent output in raeding in Malayalam, English and Hindi. The first thirty minutes of the school hours on every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday is allotted to the whole school for reading. Vayanadhinam was celebrated in a special assembly on June
Theme assemblies are held on all Fridays for one class each to equip the students to organize and present the theme selected for them on a particular week. The stage is open to each and every student of the class which boosts their self confidence. Speeches, pledges and quiz questions of every theme are collected and binded as a book, Rainbow, which is kept in the library as a reference material.Activities conducted by ELA (English Literary Assossiation), MLA(Malayalam Literary Assossiation) and HLA (Hindi Literary Assossiation) added flavor to the learning skills of the students.
Akshara Saparya organized by the school on the occasion of Vijayadesami conveyed the messages on the importance of learning and the respect to the bestowed on books and the people who transfer knowledge into their minds.
Coscholastic activities
It is well said that education cannot yield fruits in a desired level without moral and religious enlightenments. For the same, discourses are arranged periodically highlighting moral visions and Indian values. Special assemblies and celebrations are conducted on all days of importance to inculcate patriotism, spiritual feeling and respect for other religions. Independence day was celebrated enthusiastically in TRIS with house wise competitions in March Past, and Slogan shouting.
Prefects and senior students showed their appreciation and gratitude to their teachers by celebrating Teacher’s day. Two distinguished gurus of Adoor, Mr.Alexander and Mr.T G Nelson were honoured by the school on the auspicious day.
All our programmes and celebrations – Children’s day, fun and skill Day, Onam celebration, and Christmas celebration provides every child an opportunity to become a part of all religions and to share and care the joy of friends. Every programme was a platform for staging the talents of the students in TRIS.
Keralappiravi on November 1 st gave a new experience to the new generation students. Malayalam Literary association conducted an unforgettable exhibition of Keralathanima- an exhibition of utensils and materials used by Keralites before the arrival of present electronic gadgets. The exhibition and the celebration of Keralappiravi were made memorable by Nanma project of Mathrubhoomi and by the presence of the word famous Speed Cartoonist, Adv.Jitheesh G
To give all the students a chance to exhibit their talents in front of their parents, two days Youth festival was organized by the school this year. The objective of the day was satisfied and the students were happy as they received certificates.
As part of Life Skill Programme, students of TRIS used to donate an amount they wish to Karunya Fund, a fund for charity work on their birthdays. The amount is distributed to the needy people in the community. The amount collected last year was given to five deserving people and from this years’ amount the school helped two. Students of TRIS visit bed-ridden people in the community.
Extracurricular activities
Our commitment is to ensure the overall holistic development of the students in addition to academic excellence. Hence we provide a balanced curriculum which includes physical and health education like Sports and Games, Aerobics, Karatte, Yoga, Dance, Music etc. along with the academic subjects.
Medical checkup of the year was done on 16 th and 17 th of January 2017.
TRIS believes that strenuous exercise and interest in games and sports is an outlet for the extra energy in the youth. Ample opportunities are provided in TRIS for the overflow and to prove their spirit in various sports and games at school. Competitions were conducted for Volleyball and Shuttle Badminton in the school level. Chess tournament was inspiring for the juniors. Sports Day was conducted on 6 th January 2016.
Conclusion
All these speak volumes that we are in the right track in achieving the manifold aims of education. We know that each day had its own spice and flavor which made the year it was. But we cannot sit back feeling complacent because there is always room for improvement.
I seize the opportunity to thank the Almighty God for providing us a good academic year 2016- 17. The support of Mr. Jose Thomas, Manager of the school has to be remembered with great applause. The service of each member of the Trust, Senior m=management committee and parents has a vital role in the growth of the school. I extend my sincere gratitude for the selfless service. On behalf of TRIS family, I extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr, Sayed (F/O Sayeda Erum of Class IV and Erum of play class) for his selfless voluntary medical service rendered. I take this opportunity to thank all my non teaching staff without whom the day to day activities of the school would have been impossible.
Last but not the least I wish to appreciate the little cute children of TRIS family for their outstanding behavior and discipline which makes our school unique in this region.
